Custom Displays Services

Within two years of making and selling handmade displays for Department 56 villages, Showcase Displays' primary activity has evolved into the creation of custom displays (please view the photo album below!). Custom displays are tailored-made based on several factors unique to each collector such as the space available, type and amount of items to be displayed, etc.
Please review below the types of services I offer and click the Sales & Contact Us link in the menu bar above if you have any questions or would like to discuss your miniature village plans!

Custom Display Design and Build

The custom display creation process is quite simple: first I gather information regarding your village: how much space is available, an idea the collectible pieces you have, what features you like (such as water features, dramatic height drops for example) and more.

The next step consists of making a design sketch and refining it with you until you feel that it is what you want. Based on the final design, I provide you with a fixed price including shipping, and a timeframe to complete it.

Once the display is ready, I send you with digital pictures and upon payment it's on its way to you!

If you are interested in a custom display, be sure to contact me early. I typically have an order backlog of 4 weeks in the low season (Jan-May) up to 10 weeks in the high season, and for larger displays the design process can take 1 to 2 weeks based on iterations we make together.

Display Trade-In Services

Some of my customer have very limited space and want a totally new display every year or two, others just like to bring a new look.

For this, I offer a trade-in service; I buy back your display, and apply the credit to a new one! If the level of details of the new display is similar to the old one, all you pay is the shipping of the old and new displays. If the intricacy of the work involved to create the new display is much higher, an incremental fee may apply. This is determined at the completion of the design stage for the new display.
Contact me for any questions!

Touch-ups and Restoration Services

The displays are meant to be used; a lot of handling occurs taking them in and out of boxes, setting up your electrical wires through, putting your pieces on, etc. While the displays are solid and made of high-density foam, chips will happen, and sometimes more serious things. As such, I offer the following services:

Touch-up Services: I always recommend to have a dark gray marker and a black marker to take care of minor chipping, exposing white foam, or covering with moss. If you feel that there is too much touching up to do, the display can be sent to me and I will do all the touch-ups. This service is free, but you pay for the shipping to and from me.

Restoration Services: In the event that something worse happens to your display, such as a major break in it or a cat that enjoys playing godzilla and sharpens the claws on it, I can take care of it! Send me digital pictures or ship it to me; I will assess the damage, tell you if it's repairable (it usually is) and how much it will cost and we go from there. Of course if damage occured in the shipment of your display from me, I will take care of it at no charge.

Display Rental Services (coming in 2008!)

Don't have room to store displays when the season is over? How about renting one for the season!

Starting Halloween 2008, I plan to have a few displays (small vignettes and larger ones) available for rent starting at $1 per day, with a minimum of 30 days, plus shipping. This will be a good way to try my displays or to save space. Once the rental period is over, just box it up in the box it came in and send it back!
